Dear Parents,
My name is Marion Ivey. I am so happy to be your child’s Kindergarten teacher. I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself and extend an invitation to you to our curriculum night on Tuesday August 30th (details to follow).
In 2006, I received a Master of Arts degree in early childhood education from the University of Phoenix. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from National-Louis University in 1992, also in early childhood education. I have taught Pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and 1st grade. I live in Oak Park with my three daughters. The girls are 14, 11 and 8. We also have two dogs. I enjoy reading and playing with my girls a great deal. I love music and good movies. I am working at finding time for exercise. Kindergarten is a challenging and exciting year in the life of a child. For many children this is their first experience away from home all day every day, for some children, their first year without naps. We will be very busy with rigorous language arts and math concepts and exploring science and social studies. Additionally the children will have special area classes such as art, music, physical education, and Spanish instruction. Every week, I will create a news letter informing you of the recent events in class. In the interest of saving trees, I will notify you by e-mail that it is available on my blog each week by Friday. If you do not have internet access and require a hard copy, please write me a note to let me know. If you have any questions or concerns at all, please do not hesitate to write me a note and send it to school by your child, e-mail me (mivey@op97.org), call me at school (708) 524-5830x5709 or at home (708) 613-5389. I am looking forward to working closely with you and your child this year to ensure success for all of my students.
Sincerely,
Marion Ivey
